From 9 to 12 September 2010, the 4th International Symposium of Kytheraismos took place at Kytheroupolis Alimos, Attiki (its theme Kytherian and Philo-Kytherian Youth of the World: childhood dreams, youthful aspirations, high-level achievements) with the participation of many compatriots from Kythera, migration and the wider region of Kytheroupolis.

The evening of 9th September 2010 the President of the World Council of Helenes Abroad, Mr Stephanos Tamvakis opened the proceedings of the Symposium, in the courtyard of the Holy Church of Panagia Myrtidiotissa, while his Eminence the Metropolitan of Kythera, Serapheim, the Consul of Australia in Greece, Mr. Phil Minos, the local authorities of Alimos and Kythera, Members of Parliament, Chairmen of Kytherians Associations and members of the local committees of the Institute, were present.

The thematics of the Symposium reflected the dreams, the aspirations, the achievements of young people but also the problems, the prospects and the expectations either they live in Kythera or in migration of Attiki or abroad. While, special emphasis placed on the abilities and prospects that young people have to exploit and invest economically, geographically, culturally, politically in their motherland. The experiential narrations of young and not only, people, were also moving because they shared their experiences from their life in Kythera in comparison with their life in Australia and how they experience their visit in Kythera.

Within the framework of the Symposium, participants, Kytherians abroad and not only from Kythera, Attiki Area, the far-away but hospitable Australia, U.S.A. and Europe had invited and participated, and among them young people, academics and representatives of associations and brotherhoods who spoke about the prospects of the new generation.
